Privacy Policy
Gifnic is a GIF maker and GIF keyboard. There is no account, no feed, no ads and no tracking. The videos, photos, audio and GIFs you work with are processed on your device and are not sent to us.
This policy covers the Gifnic apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, their extensions (the Gifnic keyboard, the iMessage app, the share extension and the Android home screen widget) and this website. Gifnic is made by Blackray Product Labs Inc. (“we”, “us”).
What stays on your device
- Clips you record with the Gifnic camera, and the sound recorded with them if you turn on Sound.
- Photos and videos you choose to import or share into Gifnic.
- The GIFs, stickers, sticker packs, edits, captions and templates you create.
- Automatic captions. On iPhone and iPad they use Apple’s on-device speech recognition. On Android they use a speech model that runs on the phone. Neither sends your audio anywhere.
- Background removal, subject cut-outs and face effects, which run on the device.
We never receive this content. It is removed when you delete it in the app or uninstall Gifnic.
Permissions
- Camera: to record clips for GIFs.
- Microphone: only when you turn on Sound in the camera, so captions can be made from speech. Exported GIFs are silent.
- Photos: to import the items you pick and to save GIFs you export.
- Speech recognition (iPhone and iPad): for automatic captions, processed on the device.
- Keyboard “Allow Full Access” (iPhone and iPad): Apple requires this for a keyboard to copy a GIF so you can paste it. The Gifnic keyboard only shows your own GIFs. It has no letter keys for typing messages, and nothing you type in other apps is read, stored or sent.
What we receive
Feedback you choose to send. If you send feedback from the app or this website, we receive your message, the reply email address if you give one, and the app version, device model and operating system version. It is delivered to our team by email and used only to reply and improve Gifnic.
Caption model download (Android). The first time you use automatic captions, the app downloads its speech model from gifnic.com. Nothing about you or your audio is sent with the request.
Like any website, gifnic.com is served by a hosting provider (Cloudflare), which processes standard request information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and files and protect the site. We don’t use it to identify you.
Other companies involved
- Purchases. Gifnic Pro is bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment; we never see your payment details.
- Google ML Kit (Android). Face detection and cut-outs use Google’s on-device ML Kit. Your images are not sent to Google, but ML Kit may send Google anonymous diagnostics such as device and app information and performance metrics. See Google’s ML Kit data disclosure.
- Apps you share to. When you send a GIF to another app, such as a messaging app or a sticker app, that app’s own privacy policy applies to what you send.
What we don’t do
- No accounts, profiles or public feed.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
- We don’t sell or share personal information.
Children
Gifnic is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
Keeping and deleting data
Everything you make lives on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Feedback emails are kept only as long as needed to follow up. To have your feedback deleted, or to ask about any data we hold, email support@gifnic.com. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or California law), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, and we’ll honour them.
Changes
If we change how Gifnic handles data, we’ll update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
